January 17, 2018 – Jim Ferris, Emery Evans Olson Chair in Nonprofit Entrepreneurship and Public Policy and Director of The Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy, has been invited to join The Conference Board’s Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy Center Advisory Board. The Conference Board, founded in 1916, is a global, independent business membership and research association working in the public interest with an agenda to help leaders navigate the biggest issues impacting business and better serve society.

More recently, The Conference Board established the Center for Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy (CCPC) to document and analyze trends and best practices in corporate giving, employee volunteering, strategic community engagement and broader corporate citizenship issues. As CCPC gets underway, it will examine how social impact measurement can further support member organizations in their effort to create citizenship initiatives that add value to both the company and society.

“When deciding on the composition of this new Advisory Board, we wanted to ensure we had leaders from both nonprofits, and academia, as well as corporate citizenship,” says Jeff Hoffman, who leads the new Center. “Dr. Ferris has been at the forefront of philanthropic research for 20 years. We anticipate he will make important contributions for CCPC, particularly in terms of how philanthropy can work with other sectors to inform public problem solving.”

The Advisory Board will be the leading voice of thought leadership for the CCPC along with its three affiliated councils: the Corporate Social Responsibility Council, the Philanthropy & Engagement Council and the Global CSR & Philanthropy Council. Board members, who represent some of the largest global companies, will help determine a timely and relevant research agenda, review research underway and foresee future trends.

The Center on Philanthropy & Public Policy promotes more effective philanthropy and strengthens the nonprofit sector through research that informs philanthropic decision-making and public policy to advance community problem solving. The Center is a part of the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy, which works to improve the quality of life for people and their communities, here and abroad.
